INTERNATIONAL LAWYERS

Coronavirus Statement

These are turbulent times, but with a little innovation and creating thinking, business can and should, continue almost as normal. At our end, we are fully open, operational and are investing in additional resources to help our clients. Already we have begun seeing a number of shifts and developments as a result of the global pandemic. We are therefore taking steps to ensure that we are positioned to help our clients through any challenges they may face over the coming weeks with as little disturbance to their business as possible. These include:

1. A spike in litigation as deals will need to be renegotiated or terminated

Our corporate and litigation teams have been working around the clock to ensure this is done with minimal harm to our clients. We have pulled in more resources and are fully capable at assisting clients’ expedited needs going forward.

2. A spike in restructuring

We have assembled extra help for our employment and insolvency departments and can assist clients with all matters, from renegotiating salary packages to far more difficult decisions such as redundancies. We are there to help our clients and their employees navigate this difficult decision making process.

3. A spike in ethical deals to tackle the coronavirus

This includes connecting innovative clients with investors to give them the funding they need to assist the population in carrying out tests, importing protective equipment for hospital workers and other similar projects.

These are undoubtedly uncertain and worrying times for many. However, we have the knowhow and, importantly, the attitude to handle the situation.

We would like to take this opportunity to provide some reassurance to all of our clients as we prepare to tackle the coming months together.

The wellbeing of everyone at Berkeley Rowe remains our key priority, and so we are taking all necessary and appropriate precautions to protect their health, as well as the health of those around us.

This means fewer people in the office (keeping a safe distance from each other), and more home working. Our high-tech systems ensure that work is completed as promptly and collaboratively as ever; we have invested heavily in technology precisely for times like this.

An important thing to take away is that if you do need to meet with us face-to-face, we have the facilities to allow such meetings to take place with minimal risk. We are, of course, encouraging alternative methods of communication where possible, but understand that certain matters are best dealt with in person.

As our clients’ trusted partners, we are also discounting costs by up to 20% to give their cashflow some breathing space.

For more information, please don’t hesitate to contact a member of the team.

We’ll get through this by sticking together and being as flexible as we can. Stay safe and look after those closest to you.
